Who We Are

Overseas Port Management (S) Pte Ltd (OPM) is the synthesis of the experience of a group of former PSA senior managers who played key roles in the containerization experience of the PSA Corp in 70s, 80s, and 90s until 2003. They come from different disciplines including management, operations, engineering, IT, HR and finance.

The dynamism and vibrancy of the team are further enhanced by the presence of both mature as well as younger colleagues who hail from international and regional shipping and logistics companies, with experience in a wide range of countries in Asia, Middle East, Europe and Latin America.

OPM was founded by MMJ Subramaniam who spent the early part of his career from 1965 to 1978 in the management and operations of Port of Singapore Authority’s major break-bulk terminals, Warehousing and Distriparks. He became the Chief Traffic Manager (Container Terminals) of PSA for 16 years from 1978 to 1993, managing all the PSA container terminals. During his tenure as Chief Traffic Manager, PSA's container throughput increased from 486,000 TEUs to 9.3 million TEUs and became the No. 1 container port in the world in 1993. Subsequently, he served as Senior Vice President of the International Business Development Division to help PSA expand into many overseas container terminals until 2003, when he retired. He worked for a total of 37 years in the PSA Corp and its predecessor, Port of Singapore Authority. He also served on the board of several PSA subsidiary companies.

Together the OPM management team represents decades of experience in the port, shipping and logistics industries. During this time, they have seen the progressive developments and changes, the emergence of many new technologies, mergers and alliances, and evolving business and commercial philosophies in these industries. Bringing all these experiences to bear in seeking solutions for its clients is part of the value proposition of OPM.
